A TIME FOR CELEBRATION This morning, beneath twinkling crystals in Hyde House’s chandeliered gallery, plates and stems sparkle on our table spread with red and green plaid cloths. Soon, as carols softly stream through the house, artCentral’s Board Members will arrive for our annual Christmas Luncheon. But first, upstairs we go to the Board Room to work. |
Today, as each second Wednesday of every month, nine dedicated folks take time from their very full lives to come and faithfully give their gifts and do good work on behalf of the art and artists artCentral supports throughout the year. For their presence in my life and at artCentral I am daily grateful to Jackie Boyer; Betsy Flanigan; Pat Goff, Treasurer; Eric Haun, President; Lonnie Heckmaster; Helen Kunze; Brenda Sageng; Jane VanDenBerg; and Gail White, Membership Chairwoman. As our Board Meeting conversations are enhanced with the anticipatory aromas of our festive meal prepared by the extraordinary culinary talents of Judy Goff, our agenda today will address artCentral’s celebrations since our November meeting. These celebrations are many—Jim and Diana Bray’s FALLING INTO PLACE exhibit; Candlelight Yoga led by Stacey Stiles; classes given by April Davis and Sarah Serio; the rental of Hyde House for a baby shower; and artCentral’s first HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE. |
And, oh! what a fabulous HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE we have just completed. During preview and shopping hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, artCentral Board Members and artCentral volunteers welcomed and assisted a lovely flow of guests who were greeted with fragrantly warm cups of wassail and an array of delightful delectables. The artist-created gift treasures to be found were satisfyingly unique, abundant and available at pocket friendly prices—hand-blown glass and charmingly decorated ornaments; mugs, cutting boards and coasters; hand-painted silk scarves, upcycled fiber hats and dresses; note cards, prints and paintings; ceramics in sizes, shapes and colors galore; jewelry; cooking and sophisticated cartoon books; and fundraising Amaryllis.
