THE ART OF GIFTING My daughter, Audrey, and my daughter-in-law, Liko, are both devoted fashionistas with impeccably tasteful instincts and aesthetics. With a lush bouquet of diverse talents between them, they share one in particular. Each practices gift-giving as an art form. Every time I visit one or the other on their respective east and west coasts, there are always special treasures greeting my arrival. |
Beginning my recent Seattle stay, Liko and Simon gave me a bowed bundle of Seattle chocolates, locally roasted coffee beans and wished-for portfolios from the Japanese market. When encouraged to open the guest closet door, I found three precious frocks only Liko could have chosen for me.
Oh what joy and happiness is mine being the recipient of such perfect gifts of thoughtfulness! I feel considered. I feel loved. I feel cherished. I feel tremendously fortunate. By observation, I’ve learned a secret Audrey and Liko bring to their art of gifting—with eyes for the artful, unique and original, they shop year round making their selections whenever and wherever they appear. |
