WE LOVE OUR CHILDREN OF CARTHAGE artCentral loves the children of Carthage! We love nourishing their imaginations and nurturing their creative expression. artCentral loves July! July is when artCamp happens—July 20th through 31st. Monday through Friday, for these two weeks, here at Hyde House, in our large Pottery House classroom and on our campus, we’ll be celebrating our 15th Annual artCamp for students ages 8-14. |
While many of our artCamp teachers are busy lwith end-of-school activities, they’re also working on our artCamp curriculum. Soon we’ll have our class schedule ready for you parents and kids, and you can begin the fun of negotiating class choices, times and schedules. Watch for class selection and sign up information here in The Carthage Press, on our website (www.artcentralcarthage.org) and on our Facebook page (ArtCentralCarthage).
Our artcamp classes this year will be diverse and exciting! They’ll include old favorites like portrait drawing and watercolor painting. New additions being considered include creating a shadow box diorama and building a dream catcher with items collected from nature. There’s the possibility of a Click & Create class using iPhones or Androids for photographing and creating a PhotoBook.
For the first time this year, we’ll have two artCamp Student Art Exhibitions. The first Friday of artCamp there’ll be a Student Exhibit at the Carthage Art Walk. The second Friday night, we’ll host our first Annual artCamp Student Exhibition and Opening Reception. These weekend events, following the close of artCamp, will give students an opportunity to experience having their art exhibited in a gallery setting. Their artCamp teachers, families, friends and the public will be invited to share these celebrations for our artCampers and their artistic creations.
As we look forward to July, artCamp and artCamp Exhibitions, we have a terrific opportunity to honor students tomorrow, May 1st, at Hyde House. At 6 pm artCentral will host a Friday night Opening Reception for the students of Art Feeds Carthage. Please join us to view and celebrate the progress on the mural being created by the students in the Art Feeds Carthage program at Fairview Elementary. Come meet the student artists, enjoy refreshments and tour artCentral’s elegant home. The Exhibit continues through Saturday during Gallery Hours, noon to 5 pm.
