DANCING WITH THE STARS I start each day being still, sitting by the window whispering, “Please come anticipate, choreograph and dance this day with me. Merci.” At artCentral we are choreographing-dancing-twirling. By evening my head is often spinning! I rest and read and sleep a bit. Refreshed, I wake ready to start dancing once again in the splendid company of artCentral’s artists, patrons and partners. |
Dancing is definitely an art form practiced throughout our community. Dr. Chad Wagoner knows all about dancing. He dances with the stars! Besides being my compassionate GP, he’s an accomplished astral photographer. While in his exam room for my annual wellness visit, again I see his art on the wall—one of his exquisite photographs of the swirling firmaments. I lose myself in this picture as my kind, competent nurse, Kayla, mom of three, gives me the injection for my pneumonia booster. Instead of an “ouch!” I feel only bliss, while lost in the heavenly dimensions of Dr. Wagoner’s art.
The dancing heavens always give me bliss. Lately on our crisp, clear nights, I’ve been going outside to look up. (I know artCentral Board Member Jackie Boyer is doing this, too. I smile seeing her rhapsodic Facebook posts lauding the wonderment of our winter moon.)
February, the month of love, is a grand month for watching dancing in the evening sky. Above us there’s lovely aligning going on. Dazzling Venus, the sky’s brightest planet, and modestly-bright Mars are pairing together in the western sky after sunset. Magnificent Jupiter, the sky’s second-brightest planet, beams low in the east as darkness falls. Ah, the magnificence of heavenly partnering!
You’ll see heavenly partnering in all our artCentral Galleries, as we begin our Exhibition Season with PASSION, presented by the artists of the Joplin Regional Artists Coalition and generously underwritten by KOKA and CHERRY’S Art Galleries. With years of experience making and exhibiting their art in many media, these artists know how to make an Exhibition dance. In PASSION each artist depicts a subject of passion that moves or challenges, comforts or gives cause for celebration.
Join us for libations, Judy Goff’s delectables and Cindy Chilton’s tabletop creations at our Opening Reception at 6 pm on Friday, February 20. Admission is FREE. Donations are welcome.
Anticipate, choreograph your dance card and come twirl with us and artCentral’s shining stars. JRAC artists are terrific dance partners!
