New to this year’s boutique will be exquisite rosaries designed and created by artist and artCentral docent Emily Rose. Emily’s been in Carthage just over a year and is finding our artistic community to be a source of inspiration. In her words: “Loving artCentral is easy for me! While nurturing local talent, both established and emerging, artCentral provides the perfect place to display works of beauty. The peaceful main galleries at Hyde House possess a charm and elegance from another time. They provide a refuge from a world that sometimes fails to focus on concerns that feed the spirit. Carthage is a dream reality far apart from San Francisco, a place where I had no choice but to work hard as an accountant who painted on the side, because living costs were too expensive to do my life the other way around. I never imagined such a magical little place existed before visiting Carthage for the first time on a late summer afternoon. My GPS led me to the Square and a group of practicing artists at Art Walk. The spell was cast and I brought my meager possessions to a simple Carthage apartment a month later, setting aside the bedroom for my studio and sleeping in the living room. |
I enjoy combining semi-precious stones and glass with beautifully crafted metal pieces, adding in a red glass drop to remind the devotee of the redemptive blood of Christ. To create an object used in the very personal ritual of prayer is a great privilege. I’m thrilled to bring to artCentral my new collection for Christmas shopping. At last! Holiday Boutique time is here!”
