OUR SCARLET AMARYLLIS: THEY’RE STUNNING! When artCentral’s board members mix and mingle with guests in artCentral’s galleries during artist receptions, I love the snippets of conversations I overhear. “Our signature scarlet amaryllis. They’re stunning!” exclaims board member Gail White to a first time visitor at Hyde House anticipating our Holiday Boutique. Gail knows a lot about amaryllis. When she moved to Carthage and began her board tenure, she brought the “scarlet amaryllis fund raiser” idea all the way from a service league in New Jersey. For our third Holiday Boutique Gail’s volunteering her time and talents to help make our scarlet amaryllis a stunning success raising funds to support artCentral’s work on behalf of art and artists in our hometown and in our neighboring communities. |
Each scarlet amaryllis in artCentral’s limited edition is presented in a sparkling container and elegantly gold-bowed. Several weeks ago, Judy Goff planted them to bloom at the peak of the holiday festivities. Their modest $25.00 price makes them lovely gifts for everyone on your list. You can reserve one or several now and prepay by calling artCentral in advance of the Boutique.
Another Holiday Boutique favorite, artCentral’s vintage cookbook, “Palettes and Palates” is only five dollars, twenty-five dollars for an artist signed copy.”
Our guest wants to know more about the Holiday Bouquet and artCentral. Gail continues to sing our praises. “The Holiday Boutique promises the tastiest of treats and the best of holiday shopping. I am so excited! Each artist is given a spacious area of artCentral to display their creations. They’ll have paintings and prints and jewelry and pottery and lots more. You can also bid on an opportunity to buy a 4”x4” original on canvas created by an artCentral member artist.
What a great opportunity to purchase original art made by our very own local artists. We have them in abundance. Their large number is unique to our area. We’re so fortunate to share our hometown with some of the most talented artists in the country. Our director reminds us, some of our artists have achieved celebrity status in the art world!”
Gail explains, “I read once that shoppers shouldn’t buy generic art from big box and home goods stores. We need weird and beautiful on your walls. I couldn’t agree more. One-of-a-kind artwork should be collected over a lifetime. The Holiday Boutique and artCentral exhibitions give you opportunities to purchase affordable and unique presents for people on your gift lists and for you to add to your own collection.”
Gail White is one of nine members who serve on artCentral’s board of directors. All are equally passionate and dedicated in their commitment to serving artCentral on behalf of art and artists. I’m privileged to work with each of them and to have the continuing, hardworking and unfailing support of my artist husband, David, artCentral’s prepitor (worker person). Together with your help we’re able to make artCentral a sparkling Carthage jewel and a cultural destination for travelers.
Please do mark your calendars to support artists and the artistic life of our community as you do your holiday shopping. Visit our beautiful, historic Hyde House for our Holiday Boutique where you’ll definitely find our signature scarlet amaryllis. They’re stunning!
