As a perfect beginning for your holidays, here’s a “just-for-fun” recipe from artCentral’s vintage cookbook, “Palettes and Palates”. Stir up a batch, sample, sit back and relax while you read this behind-the-scenes look at artCentral’s third Holiday Boutique opening November 30, 2017.
Animated by this Recipe for Happiness, magic happens year-round in the theater that’s artCentral—especially at this changing-of-the-scenes time when our physical world dramatically transforms from the rich lushness of autumn’s colorful abundance to the subtle serenity of winter’s beautifully bare landscape. While twirling leaves finish falling, behind Hyde House’s green door of hospitality, happy preparations are unfolding for our third annual Holiday Boutique featuring a wonderland of artist created gift items.
As soon as David and I carried down the holiday decorations from the attic, board members Jackie Boyer, president, and Jane Van Den Berg began artCentral’s stunning seasonal metamorphosis. Today historic Hyde House, our foursquare farmhouse on the hill at 1110 East Thirteenth Street, is resplendent with twinkling lights and scarlet bows on wreaths and swags of deep forest greenery. Soon our spacious upstairs and downstairs galleries will be filled with a plethora of imaginative Christmas giftables.
Mark your calendars now for November 30th and December 1st and 2nd. Plan to visit artCentral’s elegant setting filled with beauty, inspiration and pocket-friendly presents, and treat yourself to the ultimate experience in holiday shopping for your loved ones, friends, teachers and business associates.
Admission is free for all three Holiday Boutique days. As always, donations to artCentral are welcome and greatly appreciated.
November 30, Thursday, 5-8pm, is the Holiday Boutique Preview, Silent Auction launch and your first shopping opportunity with wine, wassail, sweets and savories.
December 1, Friday afternoon and evening, 3-8pm, shopping and Silent Auction bidding times continue with wine, wassail and sampler treats.
December 2, Saturday, 9am-4pm, is morning and afternoon shopping with wine, wassail and sampler treats. The Silent Auction bidding concludes at 3:30pm.
In addition to artCentral artist creations, also available are artCentral’s signature potted and elegantly bowed scarlet amaryllis, planted to bloom at the peak of the holiday festivities. Each modestly priced amaryllis in this limited edition is presented in a sparkling container. Perfect for your own home, these beauties make lovely gifts for everyone on your list. Proceeds support artCentral’s work in Carthage and beyond. Reserve several and prepay by calling (417) 358-4404 in advance of the Boutique.
Returning this year is artCentral’s Holiday Boutique Silent Auction featuring 4x4 canvases created and donated by artCentral artists including Andrew Batcheller, Karen Brust, Susan Griffith, Helen Kunze,
Josie Mai, Dustin Miller, Emily Rose, Brenda Sageng, Michael and Kristine Steddum, Kathleen Studebaker, Jeanette Westbay and more. Visit the Auction early to select your favorites and make your initial bids. The Silent Auction will continue until 3:30pm on Saturday, December 2nd. For the Holiday Boutique, artCentral artists become a community of Christmas wizards and elves as they change the raw materials of their art into unique take home gifts. Artist Jane McCaulley’s whimsical glass creations are as enchanting as her elfin smile. You’ll be truly pleased with her gleaming array of holiday ornaments and glass art gifts. |
