As summer winds down at our beloved artCentral, the SPIRITUAL SPACES Opening Artists Reception was a grand success graciously underwritten by SCHMIDT CPAs & ADVISORS. With Naked Ladies dancing in the gardens and luminaries lighting the steps for arriving guests, Hyde House offered a cool oasis of beautiful art and good cheer for a seasonally warm night. An array of libations and charming charcuterie cups were perfect offerings for all to enjoy provided by artCentral board members Doug Osborn and Lori Marble, the evening’s impresarios. Again, special gratitude goes out to artCentral’s Prepitor, David Greenwood-Mathé—the man-making-magic behind the scenes of the exhibition’s installation.
For SPIRITUAL SPACES through September 17, weekend gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 12:00-5:00 p.m. The exhibition artists will be in attendance as the gallery docents to happily greet visitors. Make your plans today to come and enjoy a cool afternoon nourishing your soul with this elegant collection. You can preview Al’s and Sandra’s exhibition art at www.artcentralcarthage.org/events and at www.facebook.com/ArtcentralCarthage/photos/.
Having just completed hosting our 20th July artCamp for aspiring young artists, ages 8-12, plans are already being made for our 2023 artCamp, themed “Magical, Mystery Tour”.
With the support of our artCentral members and community partners and underwriters, we are able to invite and showcase artists local and regional, many established and ascending, some emerging and others with continental and international recognition.
Following SPIRITUAL SPACES for the denouement of 2022, the annual HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE opens October 7, and continues through December 3, with artist created original giftables featuring Debbie Barnett of Carthage and Joplin artists Kristin Girard, Brenda Hayes and Jane McCaulley. Also in the galleries will be artCentral’s annual limited edition Scarlet Amaryllis Sale and the fundraising 5x7 SMALL WORKS/GREAT WONDERS Silent Auction offering the donations of artCentral artists.
February and January will open our 2023 season with a FOILED AGAIN Exhibition presented by the Joplin Regional Artists Coalition. April and May will bring Kansas artists Clint and Mary Thornton to Hyde House—wedding his colorfully rhythmic paintings with her large format, fabulously detailed fiber creations.
For June and July artCentral’s ANNUAL JURIED MEMBERSHIP EXHIBITION will fill the galleries and give cash awards for outstanding works. August and September will celebrate a three man show with the painted abstracts of Joplin’s Eric Beezley and the sculptures of Springfield’s George Milne and Wayne Pycior.
A new artCampers’ mural is going up to companion the seven murals designed and painted by artCentral artists on the Great Wall and the beginnings of an outdoor sculpture garden are underway on the beautiful grounds of our old-growth-canopied campus.
As summer winds down and we look ahead, please do come see artCentral’s elegant Hyde House! Come see all the grand art we bring to our small town! You will be sure to fall in love with our beloved artCentral!
