artCAMP TEACHERS are the BEST!
DEB BENTLAGE – Recently returned to her Missouri roots, photographer Deb teaches in southwest Missouri while renovating her home on old family farm-land. A successful author of digitally self-published books, currently Deb’s work-ing on a photographic volume featuring the beauty of Missouri cloudscapes.
ALEXANDRA BURNSIDE – Alexandra has been teaching elementary art at Fairview Elementary for three years. For the past year she has served on the Board of Directors for Art Feeds. As a Carthage resident, Alexandra enjoys attending Downtown Art Walks. She loves her musical husband, cats and art! CHERYL CHURCH-SAVING – Originally from Kansas, Cheryl has taught art at Carthage High School and artCamp for a number of years. She’s a painter on the Great Wall by the Pottery House. As a successful professional artist, Cheryl is recognized for her colored pencil drawings, rich in design and color. SANDRA CONRAD – Sandra achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts on a full merit scholarship at Missouri Southern State University. She was recently featured in a solo artCentral exhibition titled “Winged Women”. Sandra is president of Joplin Regional Artists Coalition and a member of artCentral. She lives with her family in Neosho. APRIL DAVIS-BRUNNER – Well known in and around Carthage as an accomplished painter and experienced teacher in oil and acrylic, April exhibits and teaches frequently throughout southwest Missouri. She is one of the seven artists contributing to the mural on artCentral’s Great Wall. TERI Y DIGGS – For the past few years, Teri has taught kids’ art classes in her home studio. She offers instruction in painting on canvas and Zentangle creations, as well as crafts and jewelry. She particularly delights in leading young artists on “artsy” scavenger hunts in the great outdoors. ANNE-MARIE GAILEY – Anne-Marie is a longtime participant as an artCamp educator. Art was the emphasis of her Bachelor degree with a minor in Art Education. Anne-Marie‘s teaching experience includes high school and elementary art programs in this region and at the Spiva Center. |
KAHLIE JONES – Kahlie has worked for many summers as an artCamp aide at artCentral. A recent Carthage High School Summa Cum Laude graduate, Kahlie is a talented artist and teacher, too. This will be her second year as an artCamp instructor. We are fortunate to add her many gifts to our program.
TOM JONES – Tom is an accomplished and prolific artist in many media and holds both Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Art Education. He teaches art at Carthage High School and has instructed at many artCamps. In September, artCentral will honor Tom with a Gallery Exhibition of his new work. TIFFANY KUNKLER – While in her graduate program at the University of Iowa, Tiffany taught Introduction to Metals for art majors and other students. As an instructor at RSVPaint in Joplin she focuses on quick-finish painting for beginners and advanced painters, as well. SAM LEWIS – Having recently retired as a public school art teacher, Sam has been involved in art education for many years and continues to guide young artists. With a Masters in Art Education, he has taught in many local venues including Spiva Center for the Arts, artCentral and The Nature Center. JANE McCAULLEY – Jane taught elementary art for 35 years in Indiana before moving with her husband to Missouri eight years ago. Currently she teaches classes in glass art at Spiva, JRAC, Bella Vista Village Art Club and at artCentral. Her work includes mosaics, fused glass and combinations of both. SARAH SERIO – A native of Neosho, Sarah is a returning artCamp teacher and professional artist. She is a nationally exhibiting printmaker and serves on the Neosho Arts Council Board of Directors. An artCentral member, Sarah’s work is shown locally and exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami. LANDON STARK – Landon is a man of many hats. He is an artist, a performer, a host of Famed Comedy Nights and an international award-winning comedian and magician. Landon takes great delight in sharing his secrets with young students as he helps them build and perform magic tricks |

Watercolor Painting Nature Loose and Fun with Tom Jones – Wet paper, then splash and blend colors to create hummingbirds, goldfish and flowers. Learn and Perform Magic Tricks with Landon Stark – From a real live magician, learn how to use everyday objects to create and perform artistic tricks. Draw Portraits like a Pro with Sandra Conrad – Choose a facial image and learn the easy steps to draw well-proportioned portraits using pencils. WEDNESDAY - July 20 __________________________________________ Steampunk Hats and Goggles with Tom Jones – Create your personal steampunk accessories using cardboard, duct tape, paint and found objects. String Art Whales, Hearts and More with Alexandra Burnside – Build your design with hammer and nails then use colorful string to paint your image. Make and Fill a Sketchbook with Sandra Conrad – Create a hardcover and fill your sketchbook pages with your favorite phrases, sketches, artists, songs and more. Painting Our Winged Friends with April Davis-Brunner – Learn to sketch your favorite butterfly or bird, then use acrylics on canvas to paint your wildlife masterpiece.
