ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP EXHIBITION
ELIZABETH SIMMONS | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR McCUNE BROOKS HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION A long time supporter of artCentral, Elizabeth Simmons is a lifelong appreciator, collector and patron of the arts. Best known as Beth, she is the Executive Director of the McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation, underwriter of the 2023 Annual Membership Exhibition. She has served on numerous boards such as the Carthage R-9 School Foundation Board as president, Carthage Humane Society Board, Carthage Chamber of Commerce Board and the Helen S. Boylan Foundation as a long-term member and officer. |
DR. AMBER LEA MINTERT | ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ART
MISSOURI SOUTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY Dr. Mintert is a painter and fibers artist. She has been painting since the age of 5 when her parents put her in watercolor lessons, and she won her first ribbon at the Benton County State Fair. Since that time, she has been painting with all media, but still prefers watercolor as though it is second nature. Fiber arts came soon after when her grandmother taught her to hand sew clothing for her dolls. This led to an interest in fashion design and construction. Historical fabric design is part of her fiber pieces and her paintings. Today, Amber is married to local art educator and ceramist, Fred Mintert IV, and lives in Webb City on a hobby farm with their daughter, Olivia. They have two grown sons and enjoy visiting them along with traveling often throughout the world. |
Her travels and her family are both great sources of inspiration for her work. Along with work, family, and travel, Dr. Mintert is active in showing her art, mission work with the Navajo in New Mexico, serving at church, and teaching students to become the next generation of art educators.
